Discounts for Teachers (Ontario) 

Most of these require you to show your OCT card (or sometimes and ETFO or OSSTF etc card works) sometimes they ask for photo ID to match the name on the card to the person.

There is a new program run through the OCT website called “memberperks”.  There are way too many “perks” in there to list them all but some examples are 10% off at Softmoc, percentages off (I’ve seen so far 10% – 20%) at many restaurants, $100 off a mattress set of $600 or more at sleep country, up to 20% off at certain hotels, 15% off at all Deserres art stores etc.  Many of these “perks” are local to you (you give them your information when you sign up regarding location etc but this can be changed at any time). It is very easy to sign up – it is through the OCT website and there is an Ap as well for mobile use.

There are also some other great discounts available to teachers in Ontario.  Below is a list of some that I know of but please feel free to add any that I missed!

• Free admission to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto
• 2 for 1 admission to Absolute Comedy in Toronto
• Discounts on Toronto Raptors and Toronto Marlies tickets
• Free admission to the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto
• Free admission to the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough
• 2 for 1 admission to the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto
• Twice a year free admission to the Toronto Zoo for teacher and a guest (one in Spring and one in Fall)
• Goodlife fitness membership for $384 (433.92 with taxes) a year through the Venngo corporate partner fitness program. Comparable to $36.16 a month, but you must pay for the full year upfront.
• Michael’s Craft Store….15% off any day
• Science Center offers free day for teachers and family twice a year
• Staples 10% for all education workers.
• Ripley’s Aquarium  has a free teacher’s evening once a year, you pre-register on their website.
• Science North and Dynamic Earth (both in Sudbury) have free days for teacher.
• OCT card also gets you in free to the Canadian Museum of History (just 1 min over the bridge into Gatineau from downtown Ottawa).
• J crew gives you 15% off with OCT
• 20% off at Roots
• 10% Off Apple Store

Also ETFO and OSSTF offers an “Perkoplis ” program that has discount cell phone plans and there is insurance auto/home etc offered through ETFO as well. I currently do not use this plan as it wasn’t the cheapest option for me but it is worth shopping around and checking in to, free quotes given.    Information on the Edvantage program.
